NEWS 2

A problem with Skype's status system has been fixed, after many people were unable to use the service. Reports about Skype being unavailable started at about 09:00 BST on Monday in the UK. But just after midnight on Tuesday, Skype said services had been fully restored. In a statement, Skype-owner Microsoft said it had "detected an issue with the status settings" on Skype that show if someone is online or not. The problem locked many people's status as offline - stopping them making calls even though they were connected.

My view on this article is that the public may have suffered a lot due to the closure of Skype as its shut a popular application that many people around the world use to call from many different locations. it must've been a great let down for the public as well as the company as they may have lost many audiences.

Apple has now removed over 300 pieces of software from the App Store, after malware that targeted developers managed to create infected iOS apps. On top of that, it looks like the apps are more dangerous to Apple customers than previously thought. Several security companies have now banded together in the search for malicious iOS apps: Claud Xiao from PaloAlto Networks has reportedly discovered 39, Fox-IT also found a number of others, a representative told WIRED in an email.
  • Apple did not immediately return a request for comment.
  • the infected apps are also capable of receiving commands from the attacker
  • Originally, the malware was seen to be fairly innocuous: it could siphon off only small snippets of information such as a device’s ID, and the current time.

My view on this article is that this was a major issue due to apple being such a successful brand to a very weak brand due to hackers trying to hack into other peoples privacy. this becomes a big issue as privacy is very important to many audiences and could cause many problems if media is leaked from audiences phones.
